Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
I was pushed into the VSA clubroom by one of my friends who had already been a part of the club. He told me, "You're gonna meet some of the greatest people in this club". And damn was he right. The eboard and people welcomed me immediately and I quickly became a regular of the club. Late night events and dinners, I was so fortunate to have found my home at college so early. I've made so many friends and memories on and off-campus, traveling to different states and schools to meet even more members of the VSA community throughout the country. And although I'm not Vietnamese myself, this club really did help me meet so many Vietnamese people, and made me learn things about Vietnam that has completely changed my impression of the country and its people. In my freshman year I knew I wanted to play a bigger role in this club, to make more friends, and to be known, and to leave behind a legacy for Baruch VSA. And that's why I'm here typing this bio, from eboard to you, welcome to our VSA family! :)

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
Throughout my entire life, I followed my sister’s footsteps. We both went to the same elementary school, middle school, highschool, and ultimately the same college. During my freshman year of college, I didn’t want to join VSA because my sister was a part of the club. She was actually a part of e-board. But after getting close to everyone, VSA didn’t just become another club I joined, it was becoming family. I joined e-board because I want to give what others gave to me. Throughout my time in VSA, I’ve learned a lot of important life lessons that I could not have learned elsewhere. I have also been given so many opportunities and have made so many memories with my friends.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
I transferred to Baruch in Spring 2019, and I wasn’t really close to anybody when I first came in. My first exposure to Baruch VSA was one of the bake sales on the second floor. The warm personalities of the e-board members and refreshing Viet coffee led me to check out the club’s Facebook page and upcoming events. I joined the Gia Dinh program and it was probably the best decision I’ve made coming to this school. I met a family full of unique, yet compatible personalities, each of which I’ve come to know and cherish. I attended more VSA events, where I witnessed and understood in greater depth the beauty of cultural pride. I have been lucky to experience the fun and intimate space that last year’s e-board has cultivated for us, and by taking on an e-board position, I hope to continue cultivating a welcoming space for our members.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
I never really considered running for VSA Eboard. At least not until life throws you a curveball, hits you in the face, but grandaddy Tam is there to catch you before the fall. During my freshman year I was more active in other clubs but stuff happens you know, and long story short I landed in VSA. I thought most of my extracurricular time would be spent mainly on Investopedia, M&I, and my own hustle in college but truth be told I’m growing no less in this cultural club. At the end of the day college is about immersing yourself in new experiences which inevitably allows you to meet invaluable friends. VSA definitely has been and will continue to be one of those experiences as a path I’m grateful to be able to take without looking back.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
I joined VSA because I wanted to find a Vietnamese community since I didn’t have that growing up in my hometown. I wanted to see what this organization had in store for the year and what they would do for the culture. Joining VSA has allowed me to finally accept and appreciate my identity as Vietnamese-American. Wanting to embrace my culture and welcoming future members inspired me to join e-board. Now, as an e-board member, I’m grateful to have this opportunity to show everyone that the difficulty of acceptance can be eased by a community. That’s why I’m taking on a leadership position to make my surprising experience into a gratifying expectation.

Fun Fact: Literally, feel like I was supposed to bE bOrN iN tHe 70-80s.
Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
Personally, I was not super involved my first semester as a freshman and didn’t really want to join any clubs. The majority of my friends were also outside of school, and I felt fulfilled in that aspect. Although, I did show up to VSA’s paintnoon, I did not find any compelling reason to stay, but eventually the President of last year, Tam reached out and asked for volunteers for Paris By Night. I showed up and helped out, and realized that even though I did not really know anyone, I felt welcomed and a sense of belonging. After that I visited the club room and got more involved and eventually joined the shadows program that made me realize I wanted to be on e-board and help contribute. It was the small meticulous tasks and offering a helping hand that helped me bond with other members and felt as though I was making a difference. And joining a Gia Dinh and family line was also another factor, I really love my Gia Dinh/family and everything it gave me and felt that everyone should be able to feel the way VSA has made me feel. Especially in a commuter school, it is very difficult to find a place that always welcomes you.

Fun Fact: I’m always down to grab bubble tea with you :)
Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
What drew me to VSA was the simple fact that everyone was so welcoming and the familiar vibe kept me wanting to come back to experience more of it, just like the feeling of walking into your favorite bubble tea shop or Starbucks to order your daily drinks because you could never get enough of it. Through VSA’s Gia Dinh program, I met some of my closest friends, people whom I genuinely adore and spend a lot of money with because food is expensive and we all love to eat. As the new Social Chair, I want to make sure VSA is the reason why our club members’ college life is a more memorable one, nothing but comfort and sense of belonging because that’s what family is here for.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
As a transfer student, I was very grateful to have joined VSA. The first event I went to I was surrounded by amazing people who made me feel very welcomed. Soon after, I realized that VSA gave me a family and they helped support me through some of my most confusing times. Being here has shown me how one caring person can change the outlook of a person who’s struggling.Through my new position, I want people to know that VSA is here for them too and we are more than a club. We’re a family.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
VSA is like my open car window in a congested traffic of school & work schedule. The smiles and fun are the like sprinkles on top of sundae friendships. The people are like the beach waves that engulf you in support with open arms. I was fortunate to have enjoyable memories and the opportunities to build myself professionally in my college years. Now, as Chair of Philanthropy, I want to give back to Baruch as well as the communities beyond.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
The first VSA event that I went to was the reason why I decided to join VSA. As a transfer student, I was overwhelmed with the transition and the new environment, however, VSA made me feel welcomed. Everyone’s enthusiasm and passion for this club was what really attracted me to come back and now, I'm part of e-board. The reason why I applied for e-board was mainly because of the people that I have met through this club. They made my college experience a lot more enjoyable and because of them, I believe I became more outgoing and confident in myself. As an e-board member, I want to share my experience and encourage people to join our family.

Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
I joined VSA in my second semester of my freshman year of college and only came because my friend agreed to go with me. What made me stay, however, was meeting my big, David Xia, at my first event and the Gia Dinh program. I fell in love with the club and its people, but it still required some pushing to get me to sign up for e-board. I was always on the fence about it, but I’m ready to come out of my comfort zone and try my best as the new PR Chair!

Fun Fact: Every time you catch me listening to music with my airpod on, it's EDM no doubt.
Why did you join VSA and why e-board?:
I knew I wanted to join VSA the moment I found they have it in this school. Not because someone told me to but it was a way for me to connect more to my roots and meet new people. It certainly intimidated going to the event alone when you don't know anyone there at first, but I'm glad I did and it's the only club I've been committed myself to since then. To my surprise, in the beginning, VSA is not only for Vietnamese students rather it's a more diverse organization of people from different backgrounds that share a common love and interest for Vietnamese culture and community across all regions. Each individual I met has taught me something new- something I never knew I needed in life. Passion about this club and helping others to learn more about my culture is what motivated me to join the e-board. As a cultural chair, I hope to help future members to immerse themselves in Vietnamese culture and its beauty....a part of my identity.
